diy :: glitter pumpkins

Okkk finally! :) Here is my glitter pumpkin tutorial ~ based on Martha Stewart’s Glittered Pumpkins, but there’s a few things I do different.

You will need:
• Pumpkins &/or gourds
• Glitter
• White Craft Glue
• Wax Paper
• Spray Adhesive
I recommend Martha Stewart Fine Glitter & Martha Glitter Glue with Brush :)

Lay a good size piece of wax paper on your table/ counter. Paint a thin layer of white glue on half of the pumpkin ~ but try not to get any glue on your wax paper. If it’s a small pumpkin, you can put the glue on all at once, but if it’s a pie-sized or bigger pumpkin I recommend only doing half at a time.

OVER THE WAX PAPER, pour glitter over glue on the pumpkin….

Since you are pouring the glitter over wax paper, don’t worry about how much glitter comes out of the jar. Martha’s glitter has two different opening you can use. I like to use the large opening instead of the sprinkle opening. It’s a lot quicker than shaking the glitter through the sprinkle opening.
You can let the pumpkin dry an hour or so before shaking off glitter, but I’m usually impatient & shake off the glitter after a only a few minutes.

Grab your wax paper by the edges & carefully shake the glitter to the center. Open your glitter jar & pour excess glitter back into the jar.

Here’s my big secret ;) ~ a spray adhesive coating to hold the glitter on! Take the glitter pumpkin OUTSIDE & over another piece of wax paper, spray a light coating of an all-purpose spray adhesive all over the glittered pumpkin. You don’t have to spray a lot, you only want it to be slightly tacky. Let dry according to directions on your can.
And that’s it!

You can glitter pumpkins & gourds in any color that fits your decor! ;)

And for a finishing touch, adorn with printables! The party circle or party flags from my Limited Edition Halloween Collection work fabulous! ;)
Happy glittering! Enjoy!

Ah! I love your glitter! I’m only sad that it’s a bit too late for me to be glittering any pumpkins. You’ve definitely got me thinking about what I can glitter for Christmas, though.
